Camping in Carpinteria isn't exactly roughing it, but it's still fun and worthwhile. We got a site right on the sand, and there's something cool about waking up and having the beach right in front of you. The camp site was pretty small, and pretty much had a picnic bench, fire pit, and some room for our tents. Our camping neighbors were to either sides of us.
While at this camp site, there's a short hike you can do, which will take you along some tide pools. Nothing amazing, but something to do.
There's also some waves where you can surf, but on the day we were there, the waves were pretty small and nearly closing out.
