Lake Sabrina is located about 19 miles west of Bishop,CA in the Eastern Sierras. The lake is about 9,500 ft in elevation so the best time of year to go is late spring through the summer. Camping in Idyllwild is great in the summer. Because it's at about 6000ft in elevation, the place stays relatively cool. While we were there in July the high was in the low 80's. Plus, the place is only about 2 hours away from Los Angeles, but you'll like you're much further away with the awesome green scenary up there.

Camping in Carpinteria isn't exactly roughing it, but it's still fun and worthwhile. We got a site right on the sand, and there's something cool about waking up and having the beach right in front of you. The camp site was pretty small, and pretty much had a picnic bench, fire pit, and some room for our tents. Our camping neighbors were to either sides of us.
